 DAEWOO Electronics
Experts in innovative design and user-friendly technology
Daewoo Electronics will again this year be exhibiting at the IFA 2006 in Hall 7.2b. This year’s slogan “Design meets Technology” describes not only the exciting symbiosis of design and technology that typifies all our products but also the whole new look of our IFA stand.
With its presence at IFA 2006 DAEWOO Electronics hopes to show exactly what it means by its corporate slogan “For advanced Life”. We are constantly developing new and advanced products with modern, cuttingedge technology—designed to turn our customers’ dreams and wishes into reality and to provide all the convenience that our modern lifestyle demands.
The DAEWOO Plaza welcomes visitors and leads them through the hall—past displays featuring our TV, digital receiver, digital recorder, and portable and mobile multimedia devices. This is followed by a series of dedicated “shops” with impressive, eye-catching colors and imagery highlighting our new leading product lines.
Next comes the DAEWOO Lounge—a new presentation area which DAEWOO Electronics has integrated in its stand this year to provide a relaxed atmosphere for establishing and maintaining business contacts.
DAEWOO—the brand behind TV of the future
DAEWOO Electronics is a leading producer of consumer electronics and home appliances for the global marketplace. The focus of consumer electronics will be on flat-panel TVs with TFT-LCD and plasma displays and on ultra-slim CRT TVs. At IFA 2006 our appliances in these product groups take center stage—with three large areas dedicated to showing our latest models.
Visitors to these areas can see for themselves just how real and convincing high-definition TV pictures can be—“More Nature” with its vibrant, luscious colors, “More Sharp & Clear” with its crystal-clear resolution, and “More precise” with its perfect contrast and picture detail control. The force behind all this is MGDI (Meta Genuine Digital Image), an innovative technology developed by DAEWOO Electronics.
A new dimension of image optimization
MGDI enhances image quality on TFT-LCD and plasma displays in several aspects, bringing out the best from images and making it virtually impossible to distinguish between display and reality.
Contrast is better because black-and-white nuances are adapted dynamically and in dark scenes, the spurious noise of gray tones is reduced. Greater color fidelity is obtained through the 3D adjustment of color, intensity, and saturation. E²M-technology (Edge Enhance Management) sharpens the edges between adjacent pixels. HFD (High Fidelity Dithering) eliminates the motion-related noise that often affects particularly quick picture sequences and produces crystal-clear images.
However, since what is good can always be made better, researchers at DAEWOO Electronics have gone a step further and developed MGDI Plus technology.
The first plus is perfect curves: The “Perfect Curvature Scaling Engine” eliminates interference, noise, and blurring.
The second plus is precise detail; The “Mosquito & MPEG Noise Reduction” ensures extremely precise shapes and razor-sharp edges in both still and moving pictures.
The third plus is a natural appearance: MGDI Plus monitors sharpness in the diagonal, vertical, and horizontal directions, ensuring that every scene is defined even more clearly and appears even more natural.
The fourth plus is chromatic refinement; a 10-bit 3D filter prevents the distortion caused by the analog color interference that often occurs at high repetition rates.
Excellent viewing and a captivatingly beautiful appearance
All flat panel TVs from DAEWOO Electronics incorporating MGDI Plus and DDXTM technology guarantee excellent picture and sound quality. But DAEWOO Electronics also attaches particular value to an attractive design to match the modern lifestyle of its customers.
A real highlight in this respect is the C1 series of TFT-LCD TVs. The gems in this series are the DLP-32C1 and DLP-42C1 with their gleaming piano-lacquer black color, the so-called “Cinema Black”—these models just ooze style. Any TV from this series will make a unique impression in your living room.
The DLP-26C3, DLP-32C3 and DLP-37C3 are also true beauties. Their stylish two-tone, black-and-anthracite design is the distinguishing characteristic of the new C3 series.
DAEWOO Electronics has extended its range of TFT-LCD TV products at the smaller end of the scale as well; these fit just about anywhere. There is a model to suit everyone’s personal taste and preferences—for example, the black-and-silver DLP-20D7 with lateral loudspeakers or the all-silver, compact, square design of the DLP-20J1.
Under the slogan “More contrast” DAEWOO Electronics is also showcasing its current range of plasma TVs with contrast ratios of 8000:1 or even 10000:1. Among these, the DT-42A2 stands out perhaps by virtue of the elegance of its proportions and its precise attention to detail. This generous, wide-screen display is a real eye catcher.
All the TFT-LCD and plasma TVs from DAEWOO Electronics sporting the “HD-ready” logo are ready for the HD (high resolution) broadcasting future of TV. Among these, the DLP-42C4 stands out in particular. This TFT-LCD TV displays 1080 lines in progressive scan—the maximum for HD television.
“NeoSlim TV” is the name DAEWOO Electronics has given to its current range of slim CRT TVs in 100-Hertz technology. The technical concept behind tube television is a proven winner—tried and tested for years and yet still capable of being improved and streamlined. Thanks to their very short tube, TVs in the NeoSlim range such as the DTT-3250 and DTF/DTZ-2950 have an approximate depth of less than 40 cm and thus a much smaller footprint than conventional CRTs.
Wireless HDTV throughout the entire house
At IFA 2006 DAEWOO Electronics presents an innovative technology for its next generation set-top box—the 802.11n-draft compliant WLAN solution. DAEWOO Electronics plans to add 802.11n-based solutions to various product ranges such as digital TVs, HD TVs, and set-top boxes. These products will provide multiple high-definition video streams throughout the home.
With these next-generation products, consumers will be able to experience the true high-definition video quality on multiple TVs throughout their home—wirelessly. An amazing experience for your home entertainment!
Ready to receive—any time and anywhere
DVB-T—terrestrial digital video broadcasting—emerged in 1998 in the UK. The coverage is constantly expanding throughout Europe, and many consumers now replace receivers and TVs to enjoy the wider range of contents and services offered by this technology.
At IFA 2006 DAEWOO Electronics will be showing various products—DVB-T TVs (so-called “iDTVs”), DVD recorders, and set-top boxes—featuring an integrated digital broadcasting tuner.
The DLT-32C3 TFT-LCD TV is a first-generation iDTV, enabling consumers to enjoy real digital broadcasting without a separate set top box.
The DRT-10 DVD recorder and the DRHT-10 hard-disk recorder from DAEWOO Electronics are also combined with DVB-T tuners.
The boxes that DAEWOO Electronics supplies for DVB-T can be used, thanks to their 80 GB hard disk, as a sort of personal video library and, thanks to their two tuners, to record one program while watching another.
Recording made easy, convenient, and highly flexible
Video recorders offered by DAEWOO Electronics stand out by virtue of their particularly user-friendly operation. These products cover a wide power range but they all have one thing in common: Their functions are well thought out and easy to understand, offering built-in convenience.
Secondly, these recorders are very widely compatible. DAEWOO Electronics offers a number of interesting combinations of playback formats. There are stand-alone DVD recorders (e.g. the DRX-3705) and DVD recorders with integrated 80 to 250 GB hard disk (e.g. the DHR-7314) or DVD players and recorders combined with VHS recorders (e.g. the DFX-5705). Nothing is impossible! You can record movies from the TV, copy material from DVD to the hard disk or vice versa, and from DVD to VHS.
To ensure the best, loss-free playback quality, our DVD-HDD (hard-disk) recorders that stand out due to their modern and slim design, are equipped with HDMI (High-definition Multimedia Interface).
There is a clearly discernible trend in the consumer electronics industry. Devices are no longer single-function stand-alones; they communicate not only with each other, but also over the Internet with the outside world. At IFA 2006 DAEWOO Electronics is also showcasing IP set-top boxes—of interest for IP TV, VOD and digital broadcasting—which can be used for example to download movies as video on demand over the Internet and which incorporate a tuner equipped for DVB-T or cable.
Cinema atmosphere—right in your living room
In the “More Entertainment” area at IFA 2006 DAEWOO Electronics introduces three solutions for home cinema systems. These combinations are of course only suggestions. Given the multitude of TV types, receivers with various playback and sound equipment, large and small loudspeaker systems, and the numerous black and / or silver designs—the variants that can be fitted into your living room are virtually endless.
Multimedia take-away
DAEWOO Electronics is showing a variety of its current portable multimedia products. Despite their compact size, these devices can in technical terms match virtually any function you can imagine.
The portable DVD player DPC-7800PDT for example features a 7 inch TFT-LCD display and loudspeakers and has everything you need for watching films in route. Thanks to its integrated DVB-T tuner you will not miss a single episode of your favorite TV series.
The compact multimedia player DEH-705K lets you take everything with you in your pocket—music, photographs, even films. Its hard disk capacity of up to 8 GB provides more than enough space for a wide variety of en-route entertainment—even on much longer journeys.
Always on track
Once having used a navigation device, most drivers would not want to be without one. They are practical and reliable and always point you in the right direction. However, if you are en route on foot or by bicycle in unknown territory, navigation is not so easy. Here, too, we have the answer—in the form of our portable navigation devices. At IFA 2006 DAEWOO Electronics presents three models which will soon be making their appearance on the European market.
There are two standard portable navigation aids, the DPN-3500 with a 3.5-inch LCD display and DPN-5600 with a 5.6-inch display.
Our third portable navigation solution, the ANK-6160, not only shows the best route; it is also a digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) receiver. With this new DMB technology you can receive audio and video data, such as radio and TV programs or service information.
DAEWOO will also be showcasing other car entertainment products such as CD receivers with breathtaking features. Now, you can listen to your favorite songs from your i-POD in your car (i-POD ready)—hands-free thanks to Bluetooth technology.
